I had a very uncool haircut. My father bought hair clippers and cut my hair because that way the haircut would be free. And the easiest haircut that someone who had no training could do was a brush cut. This only made me feel more self-conscious. I thought that my ears stuck out as well. In any picture I was the smallest kid. As kids we were always hungry and in season we ate as many apples and pears as we wanted. The first thing we did, of course, was build a treehouse out of every piece of wood that we could get our hands on. This is where John Sevenhuissen came in handy.
